Dreams of the Ghost Wood
Bright bone gleams, fleshed with moon light. She holds worlds within her pregnant belly. Call her on cloudless nights from painted hollows that flicker with flames. She knows the dark paths that twist and tangle beneath and so the dance begins as she carries you into the dreamlands.
The Bone Mare is sculpted in a specialist air-drying clay made from paper pulp and volcanic ash, I use water from a local sacred spring to moisten and work the clay. She is hand carved, painted and patinated to give a faux ancient bronze effect, carved patterns swirl upon her skin, shining bright as if inlaid with gold. She is finished with a matt-satin varnish. Approx 13 cm tall, she sits so comfortably in the hand.
Hand-Crafting each one of these spirits is a very individual experience for me. Each leads me on their own unique journey, whispering to me the patterns and designs that they wish carved upon their bodies to sing their stories.
The clay is extremely light weight and very strong but please be aware this is air drying not fired clay so please do not let her get over wet or immerse her in water.
